Israel Museum

Welcome!

A few photos from the courtyard of the museum, where is situated the Billy Rose Art Garden.

This composition was called by the artist "To My Dear Wife!"

And here is a new tendency in abstract art: moving art! Just press the red button and (with lot of chunking, clang and clank) the structure starts to pivot... (Weak-nerved, please keep away!)

This is the Shrine of the Book, where the Dead Sea Scrolls are kept now. The Shrine is in the form of a lid, which covered the original vase with scrolls.

Near the Shrine there is a black basalt stone. Its contrast with the white shrine symbolizes the War between the Sons of Light and the Sons of the Darkness described in one of the scrolls. (The tourists in red caps don't symbolise anything!)
