Holy Sepulchre

The Church of Holy Sepulchre is a place of prayer and pilgrimage for Christians throughout the world. Here Jesus was crucified, entombed and resurrected.

The platform of Calvary, raised about 5 m above the floor, contains the last four Stations. It is divided into two chapels, Greek Orthodox and Roman Catholic. The 10th and 11th Stations,  where Jesus was disrobed and nailed to the Cross, are made in the Latin chapel.

The Twelfth Station, the place of the death of Jesus, is in the Orthodox Chapel. A silver disk beneath the altar table marks the place where the Cross stood.
